Norbert Gabriels – Director F.A.A.S.
Norbert qualified as an architect in 1971 and has been working full time in the area of acoustics and the building environment since 1973. For 18 years Norbert managed the Environmental Services branch of the BMA (now known as Building Management and Works). Then in 1995 he established Gabriels Environmental Design Pty Ltd, which became Gabriels Hearne Farrell in 2017.
He is a Fellow of the Australian Acoustical Society, and was chairman of the WA Chapter of this body, from 1993 to 1995. Norbert is also chairman of the Australian Standard’s committee on architectural acoustics (AV/4), responsible for all Australian Standards relative to the performance, measurement and assessment of acoustics in buildings. He is the Australian representative on the International Standard Organisation committee ISO TC43 on Building Acoustics involved in the writing and review of International Standards.
Norbert also operates a sister business Acoustic Laboratories Australia.
Kingsley Hearne – Director M.A.A.S.
After completing his bachelors degree in Architecture in 1993, Kingsley has now been employed at Gabriels Hearne Farrell for over 20 years. This follows two years working within the Environmental Services branch of the BMA (now known as Building Management and Works). Kingsley maintained Green Star ‘Professional’ accreditation status from 2004 to 2010 and continues to provide advice regarding compliance with the Deemed-to-Satisfy requirements of BCA Section J – Energy Efficiency.
Benjamin Farrell – Director M.A.A.S.
Ben joined the team in 2000, after studying Architecture at Curtin University. Ben has significant experience in using the SoundPLAN noise modelling software, EASE room acoustic modelling software, and Radiance daylight design simulation software. Ben currently serves as Secretary of the Australian Acoustical Society – WA division. Ben is also responsible for the maintenance of the website content.
Michael Ferguson – Associate Director M.A.A.S.
Michael has been employed at Gabriels Hearne Farrell since early 2010, following his graduation from Interior Architecture at Curtin University. He is well versed in both SoundPLAN and EASE software packages. His beard is his greatest asset.
Joannah Schmid – Office assistant
Joannah is an ‘all-rounder’ within the office, looking after accounts and undertaking secretarial duties.
